The beach neighborhoods along East Wharf, West Wharf, and Neck Road include a lot of seasonal properties, and every spring reopening and every fall shutdown is a chance for something to go wrong — a missed shutoff, a line that was never fully drained, a water heater fired up on an empty tank.
Winter is the harder season. A cottage left at minimum heat and a stretch of single-digit nights is the classic recipe for a split supply line that nobody discovers until someone opens the door in April. If a Madison property sits empty part of the year, proper winterizing is much cheaper than the alternative.
